I’m incredibly grateful that you decided to stop by my little blog. Grab a glass of sweet tea & stay awhile, I’m happy to have ya.
This has been a long time coming & a dream of mine since I read my first blog way back in 2011. I’d dream of writing witty, entertaining, & insightful posts that my readers would immediately connect with & devour like Swiss chocolate.
My problem however was what to write about that was chocolate worthy. Oh, I pondered homesteading, travel, & even homeschooling all of which I have some experience in. Buuut….I wasn’t really passionate about any of those things. I love them all & love sharing my experiences about them. But if I was going to be honest with myself & y’all I needed to be passionate about what I was writing.
So, I started praying, I kept dreaming, I never stopped planning, & I’d pray some more. I came up with lots of cool names, pondered ideas on what I wanted my blog to look like, but mostly I prayed about my message…Then, one day just like my AboutPage says it all hit me like a ton of bricks & Three23 was born.
More like a Three23 LifeStyle was realized.
My whole life flashed before my eyes. Not in a scary near death sort of way, but more like I am so blessed sort of way. Somehow in that moment God showed me that my unusual lifestyle was for a purpose. I no longer felt dissatisfied or that my prayers for a different life had not been heard, actually the exact opposite happened. I now knew that they were stepping stones to help others find their passion, adventure, & joy in the midst of whatever season they may be in.
Once again, I had to go to prayer. I prayed & prayed, asking God, “How do I share this?”.
Funny enough the answer came from my husband. He said, “Call it Three23, we live by Three23, we discovered happiness by doing Three23, now teach your readers how to do it too.” Moments like that are what make me love that man so much.
And now here we are.
Three23 comes from Colossians 3:23; And whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, & not unto men (King James version).
Y’all may be asking yourselves how that little verse relates to a lifestyle, or at least beyond a work ethic. Let me explain…
First of all, ‘Whatsoever you do”, really just breaks down to “whatever you do”. Yes, like work but also; taking care of yourself, your family, your home, everything in your life, & yes your hobbies, dreams, & happiness too.
‘Do it heartily”, that just means do it, well…to the best of your ability. For instance, let’s go back to taking care of yourself, your family, & your home. We’ve all read about the Proverbs 31 woman. Can anyone say, “Goals”? I know we’ve all heard this before, but just bear with me.
This is where it all comes together.
‘As unto the Lord & not unto men”. This part is the game changer. I guess I should say, once you commit to doing things in a way that pleases the Lord, it becomes a game changer. It’s all about your point of view & who you want to please.
Once you put it all together it’s really easy. Just do your very best as if you were doing it for God.
Which brings me to our happiness. I believe God has a sense of humor, don’t think so, just google a platypus, a giraffe, or a lama. He loves music, David stole His heart with it & He created this whole wide world, then told us to go out & subdue it. Soooo, God also wants us to not only be happy, He wants to be a part of our happiness.
